The Journey of a Dallas Doctor
Dr. Suzanne Slonim’s story is a prime example of the path many distinguished doctors take. Her life is a testament to dedication, continuous learning, and a drive to make the world a better place.
Her medical journey began with a strong educational foundation. Dr. Slonim earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Georgetown University, followed by her medical degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine. She completed a crucial internship in internal medicine at the UCLA Medical Center, followed by a residency in diagnostic radiology at the Lahey Clinic in Boston. She concluded her advanced training with a fellowship in interventional radiology at the world-renowned Stanford University, where she mastered the complex, minimally invasive procedures that would become her specialty.
Throughout her career, Dr. Slonim has been a leader and innovator. Before establishing her own institute, she became the first woman to lead the medical staff at Methodist Dallas Medical Center. She also served as a partner and president of the Radiological Consultants Association. For her significant contributions, Dr. Slonim has received high honors, becoming a Fellow of the Society of Interventional Radiology in 2012 and a Fellow of the American College of Radiology in 2013.
Research and Treatment of Uterine Fibroids

Dr. Suzanne Slonim has a deep command of medical knowledge, which she actively applies to combat one of the most common conditions affecting women: uterine fibroids. Much of her extensive practice and research has been dedicated to advancing the methods for diagnosing and treating this condition.
A cornerstone of Dr. Slonim’s work is Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE). This minimally invasive procedure represents a major breakthrough in fibroid treatment. Unlike traditional surgery, UFE preserves the uterus—a critical factor for many women, especially those who plan to have children. Dr. Slonim has personally performed over 30,000 such procedures, and she doesn’t just perform her duties; she constantly refines her technique.
Beyond direct patient care, Dr. Suzanne Slonim is passionate about training other physicians. She shares her expertise and unique techniques by frequently conducting training sessions and masterclasses. Thanks to her efforts, countless medical professionals have mastered the UFE technique.
Dr. Slonim’s contributions to research also deserve special recognition. The Dallas physician has authored more than 23 peer-reviewed scientific publications. Published in leading medical journals, her work analyzes the effectiveness of UFE, details new approaches to fibroid treatment, and fosters a deeper understanding of the condition.
Importantly, Dr. Slonim also shares her knowledge directly with the public. She is dedicated to ensuring that as many women as possible know about all the available treatment options for fibroids. To that end, she authored the book “Pain-Free Periods: Banish Menstrual Misery, Fight Fibroids, and Get Your Life Back.” Written in simple, clear language, the book gives women comprehensive information on fibroids, their symptoms, and the various options for diagnosis and treatment.
